As Phi Mu returns to Appalachian State University, members of the reestablished Lambda Beta Chapter will have the unique opportunity to become charter members and help shape the chapter's future from the very beginning. From building new traditions and serving the community to developing leadership skills and creating lasting memories, Lambda Beta women will play an important role in establishing Phi Mu's legacy on campus. Whether connecting with sisters through chapter events, supporting our philanthropy partner, Children's Miracle Network, or celebrating milestones together, members will experience a sisterhood rooted in love, honor and truth. At Phi Mu, we celebrate individuality, encourage one another's success and foster friendships that last a lifetime.

What Happens When you Join?

• New Member Experience Weekly Meetings
  • The New Member Experience is an exciting eight-week journey designed to help members learn more about Phi Mu, build meaningful connections and prepare for lifelong membership in our sisterhood. Through weekly meetings, new members will explore Phi Mu's rich history, values and traditions while gaining a deeper understanding of the opportunities and resources available at both the local and national level.
  • As charter members of the reestablished Lambda Beta Chapter, participants will share this experience alongside their fellow founding class members, creating strong bonds and lasting friendships from the very beginning. Each week offers opportunities for learning, personal growth and sisterhood, helping members feel connected to Phi Mu's legacy while also playing a role in shaping the future of the chapter. By the end of the program, members will not only have a greater understanding of Phi Mu but will also have built a strong foundation of friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
• Leadership Opportunities
  • Leadership is at the heart of the Phi Mu experience, and as a charter member of the reestablished Epsilon Tau Chapter, you'll have a unique opportunity to help shape the future of Phi Mu at Appalachian State from day one. Members will have immediate opportunities to serve in leadership roles, whether as an Executive Committee officer, Chairwoman or committee member. These positions allow members to develop valuable skills in communication, organization, teamwork and decision-making while making a lasting impact on the chapter.
  • Throughout the reestablishment process, members will receive support and guidance from Phi Mu's Residential Chapter Consultants, who will provide ongoing leadership development, mentorship and training through recurring meetings and hands-on coaching. By taking an active role in building the chapter, charter members will gain experiences and leadership opportunities that are truly one of a kind, helping establish traditions, programs and a legacy that will benefit generations of Epsilon Tau women to come.
• Big/Little
  • The Twin Sister relationship is a special part of the charter member experience at Phi Mu. As the Lambda Beta Chapter is reestablished, members during the first year will be paired with a Twin Sister—a fellow charter member who will share in the excitement of building the chapter's foundation, creating new traditions and navigating this unique experience together. Your Twin Sister will be someone to encourage, support and celebrate alongside throughout your Phi Mu journey. While charter members will participate in the Twin Sister program during the chapter's first year, the traditional Big Sister/Little Sister program will begin the following year, allowing members to continue fostering meaningful connections across generations of Epsilon Tau women. Through these relationships and the bonds formed throughout the chapter, members will experience a sisterhood rooted in Love, Honor and Truth that lasts a lifetime.
• Phi Retreat
  • Phi Retreat is a special opportunity for new members to step away from their daily routines and spend dedicated time building friendships, strengthening connections and creating memories with their founding class. Planned and facilitated by Phi Mu's Residential Chapter Consultants, this fun-filled day is designed to foster sisterhood through engaging activities, team-building experiences and opportunities to connect with fellow members in a meaningful way.
  • Typically held between weeks two and three of the New Member Experience, Phi Retreat allows members to deepen relationships early in their Phi Mu journey while enjoying a memorable experience together. As charter members of the reestablished Lambda Beta Chapter, participants will have the unique opportunity to bond with the women who will help build the chapter's foundation and create traditions that will be cherished for years to come.
• Initiation
  • Initiation is one of the most meaningful milestones in a Phi Mu member’s journey. It is the moment you officially become a lifelong member of our sisterhood and embrace the values of Love, Honor and Truth that have united Phi Mu women for generations. Rooted in our rich history and cherished traditions, the Initiation ceremony creates a lasting connection between you, your chapter and the thousands of Phi Mu women who have come before you. More than a ceremony, Initiation marks the beginning of a lifelong commitment to sisterhood, personal growth and the enduring bonds of Phi Mu.
